Asin – tying the knot soon!
A simple announcement – AT is going to marry RS.
A mega event – Asin Thottumkal is to tie the knot with Rahul Sharma.
A popular mega star in her own right, Asin will be saying “I will” or words to that effect, to the founder of Micromax, India’s biggest mobile company, Rahul, quite soon. Dates are yet to be announced and as much under wraps as was the news of the impending marriage itself, till a couple of days back. Incidentally Akshay Kumar is said to be instrumental in the taking place of this happy event. Akshay and Twinkle were already brand ambassadors for their good friend Rahul’s initial Micromax launch. Many have even commented lightly that Asin has the Rahul ‘Singhania’ of her reel life into her real life. By self-admission of the actress, it is a four year old affair since the days of Houseful 2, when they were introduced and took a liking to each other’s “self-madeness”.
The Early life of Asin

A year later, break for completing her education she did ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’ as a Tamil girl opposite Ravi Teja, in Telugu. She won her first Telugu Film Fare Award for Best Actress. Co-starring with Jayam Ravi in M.Kumaran S/o Mahalakshmi in her first Tamil film, a remake of the Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (originally in Telugu), she now became a Malayali girl in the Tamil movie. This got her recognition in the Tamil industry in 2004. Then Chakram in Telugu and back to Ullam Ketkumae by director Jeeva in Tamil. All benefited from the 2002 launched movie that was delayed but now became a hit.

Asin (2005-07)
Ullam Ketkumae was a turning point in Asin’s Tamil film industry journey. She was immediately seen as a leading lady for many a film that later turned blockbuster, like, Ghajini, Sivakasi, Varalaru, Pokkiri, in that order. Ghajini with co-star Surya and directed by A.R.Murugadoss got her the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Her character and her own histrionics drew rave reviews. She was described as ‘magical’, ‘vivacious’ and what not, and fetched her names like “lovable chatterbox”. Sivakasi and Majaa followed, the former becoming fairly successful. Opposite Ajith Kumar in Varalaru she again had the scribes singing her praises for looking lovely and acting effortlessly. Other films like Pawan Kalyan’s Annavaram, Aalwar opposite Ajith Kumar again and Pokkiri opposite Vijay, Vel opposite Surya got her a whole lot of mixed reviews.

Asin (after 2007)
Asin had her first dual role in Dasavathaaram opposite Kamal Hasan and despite the established legend being in ten roles she did very well in her two roles that again got her an award – the ITFA Best Actress Award.
Asin reigned the South. She turned her attention to Bollywood. In late 2008, it was Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan this time that saw her get equally good reviews again for her looks and portrayal. A critic like Taran Adarsh said of her "to share the screen space with an actor of the stature of Aamir Khan and yet remain in your memory even after the show has ended is no cakewalk. She looks fresh and photogenic and acts her part brilliantly". After a sensational box office start, London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan followed. Much later she did another box office grosser Ready with Salman Khan. Then followed Houseful 2 with Akshay and Co., Bol Bachchan with Ajay Devgan and Co., Khiladi 786 with Akshay again. A lull followed and now All is Well is where she will be seen again shortly.
Movies come, movies go, but Asin continues to do her role effectively and remains fresh as ever. No wonder that even Dame Luck sees that none of her movies go by unnoticed either at the box office or for her acting prowess.

The philanthropic side of Asin
Asin, a self-made actress, who established herself in a prominent position so early in life, is still untouched by false airs and starry behaviour paraded by some actresses who have achieved very much less than she. Besides a filmy career and a busy schedule of shoots for various Ads, she still finds time to give real life a thought and do something worthwhile for those not so privileged in society. She has taken the responsibility of educating six orphaned girls through school and college and till where they would like to study. She had recently donated 100 outfits from her personal wardrobe to an orphanage in Borivili, Mumbai. There may be other such ‘do-good’ acts that have not yet come to light.
What else is Asin?
She speaks seven languages – Malayalam (mother tongue), Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, French, English, Sanskrit. She further knows a smattering of Italian, a little Marathi, and she has begun to learn Spanish and German.
She is brand ambassador to a whole host of companies and products. Her commercials have been noticed regularly for Avon, Mirinda, Colgate, Fairever, Tanishq, Big Bazaar, Parachute, Spinz Talc, Lux, Amrutanjan Healthcare, Clinic All Clear.
She has been judge at Femina Miss India 2009, Femina Miss India 2013.
And wow! she has appeared in the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 editions of Daboo Ratnani’s annual calendar.
Multi-talented, fresh-looking, charming yet seemingly mysterious persona Asin, is a darling to thousands and thousands of her fans and a huge audience who lap up her acting on the silver screen. Every time she appears on the screen she mesmerizes, captivates and spellbinds with her talent and acting skills. No wonder there can be heard huge sighs and moans of what will happen once she marries and perhaps leaves the silver screen for quite some time if not for ever. Yet at the same time all wish her well and the best of times ahead, for, she has earned what she has worked for, deserved what she has earned.

Asin – a lovely ambassador for the Indian saree
Any woman who can wear a saree, look graceful in it and carry herself well wherever she goes, would definitely be subject to admiring glances. Asin, like thousands of other Indian women, also wears it and so very nicely. Naturally we at Unnati Silks also picture her possibilities in different varieties and how the effect would be like, especially since the harvest festival of Onam is round the corner.
The effect of Asin in the cream colored plain saree with lightly distributed motifs and the golden zari border of the Kerala Kasavu is there for all to see.
Now a cream color pure Tussar silk saree with a flaming magenta border all round, with kundan work and zardozi work on the border, with huge swan bootis distributed magnificently in aari, kundan, dabka and zardozi work decoration, the effect would be stupendous. In addition if she dazzled with her 1000 W smile the onlookers would be dazed.
It would be a different Asin altogether draped in a Kollam silk saree, parrot green plain and surrounded by dazzling pink borders either side, the foot wide lower border and the smaller width upper border full of shine and lustre. And the checkered pallu to match in shimmering pink, the allure and appeal one can imagine would be awesome.
Take the Kerala organza saree, a black and silently shining affair in pure leafy design all over and a golden shining zari border, the draping effect would be eerie and simply sensational.
A whole range of so very many lovely sarees that would go pat with Asin’s frame and countenance, and improve the environs no end.

The happy event shall take place as indicated. We wish Asin a whole lot of luck and best wishes, to carry on even more smoothly than she has been carrying on uptil now, in her new life with Rahul Sharma. Amen!
