Getting that nail polish to stay a little longer
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hi girls!
Just like you I too would love my favourite nail colour or polish to stay on longer. But either the nail colour discolours or fades badly no sooner than the occasion ends. Sometimes even before.
I got my friend, a fashion freak, living in the States one day on chat and posed her the same.
These are the tips she offered.
You remember the oil that they make you wash off your hands? The same will keep your polish on longer. Nail bed and cuticles that get dehydrated need to be well hydrated otherwise they chip. Apply oil once in the morning and once in the night and top coat once a week.
You are done. You have the simple and easy way of avoiding the salon, reducing costs and being the envy of your friends.

- Oil on the hands is the easiest way of getting the damage done. Getting there on the nails could be handling oil while cooking, turning over chappatis on the tawa, or even some unnoticed place where your hand could have rubbed against. Whether you already have colour on your nails or don’t, Use the nail polish remover once over all the nails.
- A base coat gives the needed adhesion to the nail polish. Use a base coat on the nails first.
- At some of these professional salons they do two coats of polish and thick. I would say do four thin coats. Thicker the coat, more the chances of air bubbles, less the chances of polish sticking to the nails.
- It is said more the shimmer and glimmer of the nail polish, harder will it stick. Use colours that have plenty of it and you’ll see the truth. Removal is easy, don’t fear.
- Apply the top coat. Two thin coats I would say. Dries up faster.
- Allow about 45 minutes to an hour for them to dry while watching your favorite soap. Dunk in cold water, rinse and then put on some mild non-reacting hand lotion.
- You’re ready for the show. What about the ‘keeping it longer’ part?
