Dharmavaram is 47 Km from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is known in the region for its architecturally brilliant temples like the Sri Lakshmi Chennakeshwara Temple, renowned for its storied tower, a perennial waterspout and pillars that produce seven different musical notes when struck.

It is also acknowledged as a hub of quality silk and cotton sarees known as the Dharmavaram variety and the famous leather puppets. Usually these sarees have broad borders, adorned by brocaded gold patterns.
