Aihole

130kms from Dharwad, Aihole is historically famous as the cradle of Hindu temple architecture. There are about 125 temples divided into 22 groups scattered all over the villages and nearby fields. Most of these temples were built between the 6th & 8th centuries and some even earlier.

Hampi

150kms from Dharwad is Hampi, the seat of the famed Vijayanagara Empire which was the capital of the largest empire in post-Mogul India, covering several states. It has the best-preserved world-renowned rock temples, which are a marvel, and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nrupatunga Betta

This is just 7kms from the city. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Hubli atop this popular picnic spot, which is on Unkal hill. It is a great place to relax and breathe fresh air.

Chandramouleshwara Temple

Just outside the city limits close by there is a beautiful expression of Chalukya architecture that is almost 900 years old. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has delightful images of Lord Ganesha and Jaalandhra.

Indira Gandhi Glass House Garden

Located in Hubli, this public garden has a musical fountain and houses a huge glass building similar to that in Lalbaug, Bangalore. A small train ride is an added attraction.

Navagraha Teertha

Just 17 kms from Dharwad one gets to see the tallest 61 ft monolithic statue of Bhagavan Parshwanath mounted on a 48 ft pedestal. Along with this are statues of eight other Tirthankaras making this a nice place to visit. Educational institutions are built in the area, and a dharamshala and a bhojnalaya serve teerth-yatris or tourists.

Gayatri Tapobhoomi

10 kms away renowned for its beauty, this temple is located in Tadasa cross on National Highway 4.

Neersagar

30 kms from the city is this water reservoir to the west of the city that is often used as a day picnic spot. Cool and refreshing atmosphere, it is a nice calm place away from the city.
