Sankagiri Fort is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is located 22 km from the City of Erode and 38 km from Salem. The Temple dedicated to Shiva is mind-blowing. The Blue Temple close to the Summit is a wonder itself.

Kottai Peria Mariamman is the guardian deity of salem.This is the oldest temple in Salem. It is said that we will get rid of our deceases once we worship Mariamman. Worship time is from 6 am to 2 pm and then from 4 pm to 9 pm. The temple is well maintained. There are lot of small shops in and around the temple.

A small zoo but the location is great. It's a good place for a picnic on a quiet day. Animals include crocodile, sambar deer, birds, snakes, peacocks, one elephant, few monkeys, and swans. There is a children play area. A small change when you visit Salem.
